Denying same-sex couples the right to marry causes gay and lesbian families to appear as second class citizens and sends the message that it is acceptable to discriminate against them. For the longest time civil rights has been a battle of right and wrong, affecting the lives of many people around the world. Discrimination against gays denies them their civil rights with regards to their social roles in marriage work, and everyday life.
As of now, 17 states in North America have licensed and legalized same-sex marriage. The LGBT community has been fighting for marital freedom for a few generations now. But many estimate that in 5 to 10 years, gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states. Anyone who respects individual’s rights to make choices that are right for them should understand and be more sensitive to the gay community. Whether the general public agrees or not, things are changing for a community willing to stand up for what they believe is right. Protecting individual choice has been a huge part of American life, so why try to stop that? Once America realizes discrimination is against everything it stands for, they will realize gay marriage only exemplifies America’s core beliefs when it comes to individual choice.
In a general workplace, not everyone gets along. From a pain in the neck boss to rival employees, there are many ways of dysfunction at an establishment. People get laid off daily for common reasons such as: laziness, not being punctual and even scandals. But what if an employer were to fire someone just because they were attracted to the same sex? Although it may be just a way of life, it can indeed be put in the way of someone’s job, or even their long run career. As unconstitutional as this sounds, judgment and intolerance is very much alive in the business world.
Love is a powerful thing. Anyone who knows what it is like to be in love with someone knows they will stick by them to death till they part. Well that’s not possible for gay couples for many reasons but what if after their death the right to take care of
